Rev. Bob Humphries accepting recognition from the California Assembly on our 25th Anniversary

The United States Mission was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1962 by the Reverend Robert Humphries.  The organization was incorporated in the State of California in 1966 and soon sought and was granted, nonprofit and tax exempt status. Under I. R. S. Code Section 501 (c) (3) our tax exemption number is #94-1585260.

At the California State Franchise Tax Board our exemption is recorded under Corporate Number 0516589-Status Date-October 6, 1966.

Under the leadership of our Founder, Reverend Robert Humphries, and his successors, all of the Missions in the United States Mission System remain, largely, financially and administratively independent of one another.  With the exception of a small central emergency fund, all funds raised locally are devoted to our local homeless concerns.

The Mission receives no funding from Federal, State or Local Government programs or from other social service organizations. All of our funding comes from concerned corporations and generous individuals in our local community.
